A Joliet marine audio client came to Tip Top Customs looking to upgrade the audio system in his Sea Ray. We spent significant time with him to understand how he uses the boat and his goals for the new system. After looking over the boat, we offered him what we felt was his best solution for his needs. He liked our idea and we set an installation time.
Wet Sounds Equalizer Provides Multi-Zone Control In The Sea Ray
Early on in our conversation, we realized that the client would be best served with three distinct zones, and that Bluetooth would be a great way to transfer his music into his marine audio system. It was for these reasons that we chose the Wet Sounds WS420BT multi-zone equalizer with integrated Bluetooth. This is truly an incredible device for a boat owner. Our client can now play in any or all of his three distinct zones : the swim deck, main area and cuddy. Each has its own volume control and equalization settings. Integrated into the WS420Bt is a Bluetooth receiver, so any Bluetooth device, such as a smartphone, iPod, tablet, etc., can now stream music wirelessly to the audio system.
Wet Sounds Amplifiers Pump Up The Jams
From there, the music goes to two Wet Sounds amplifiers, an HT-2 and an HT-4, giving him more than 900 watts of clean power divided up over the three different zones. We love these amplifiers for their combination of clean power, incredible efficiency that is easy on the charging system, and bulletproof reliability.
Wet Sounds Speakers Make The Music Loud And Clear For Our Joliet Marine Audio Client
When it came time for speakers, we went back to Wet Sounds again. We used a total of eight speakers, eight SW65i 6.5” coaxes and two SW808 8” convertible speakers that we installed as coaxial designs. We installed the larger SW808s near the front of the boat as they have great bass response, along with great detail. Four SW65is toward the rear of the boat round out the main listening area.
We added two more SW65is in the cuddy so the client could have great-sounding music whenver he went down below. And, since each zone has its own volume control, he could have the deck jamming with the cuddy at a more subdued level.
We added the last two SW65is to the swim deck so everyone could experience great-sounding music while on the beach.
The Finest Installation By Tip Top Customs Marine Experts
Here at Tip Top Customs, we think using high-quality, marine-grade products are important, but, in our opinion, the installlation is critical on a boat. Any mishap caused on a boat by a poor stereo installation can have big consequences while you’re out on the water. That is why we only use marine-rated wiring, stainless steel hardware and marine-grade ulphostery in all of our installations. Anywhere that you can access the rear of a speaker, we use bolts and nuts as opposed to screws, to eliminate the chance of injury.
We added two marine-grade deep cycle batteries during the installation with a marine-grade battery selector switch, allowing him to use any combination of batteries. The benefit here is never draining your starting battery while docked and getting stranded.
If you own a boat and would like to have your audio system upgraded, you are invited to stop by Tip Top Customs. We will work one on one with you to design and build you a marine audio system that eets your unique needs.
